What you can explore

The interactive map brings hurricanes, typhoons, and tropical cyclones into a shared world map from 1950 through the latest published archive observation. It supports timeline playback, storm profiles, intensity charts, and downloadable records. No account is required.

It is intended for curious readers, students, educators, and anyone who wants to inspect historical tracks. The accompanying guides explain the map’s measurements, terminology, and limitations. The climate explorer puts archive summaries alongside published scientific assessments.

Our approach to the evidence

We identify the source of the data, preserve unknown values, and distinguish observations from interpolated playback. We link to primary sources for educational claims. A track can tell a compelling story, but it cannot by itself explain every impact or establish why storm activity changed.
